

Arthur David ""Dave"" Sherron, 86, of Baytown, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, after a courageous struggle following surgery and a six year battle with Parkinson's Disease. One of his best friends passed away due to Parkinson's Disease and when Dave was diagnosed with it he knew what he was facing. Throughout these debilitating years, he never complained and accepted each day as a blessing. Dave was a 32nd degree Mason and a life member of the Paris, TX Masonic Lodge #27, the Texas City Chapter #626 Order of the Eastern Star, the Baytown Shrine Club, and the Arabia Temple Shrine Club in Houston.
Dave was born October 10, 1927, in Paris, TX, Lamar County, to Morris and Dorothy Christopher Sherron. He was transferred with the J. C. Penney Company to Texas City in 1950, where he married Doris Moller July 15, 1951, and they would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year.
He moved to Baytown in 1959 as Manager of Beall Bros. Department Store on Texas Avenue. In 1967 he was hired by Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District to develop their Purchasing Department and served as Purchasing Agent and Director of Security for 38 years. During that time, he served 35 years as President of the Board of Directors of the Baytown Teacher's Credit Union and three days following retirement from GCCISD he became manager and CEO of the credit union for 12 years. He also owned Sherron Security Service, Inc. #331, one of the first private security business' to be licensed in the State of Texas, and the first one to be incorporated in the state. Throughout all those years Dave only had one hobby, WORK, and he loved every minute of it.
Among his civic contributions were: Baytown Parade Chairman for 42 years, member of the Baytown Industrial Appraisal Review Board, member Baytown Chamber of Commerce, Assistant Director of the Baytown Civil Defense, President of the Baytown Kiwanis Club, Director of the Gulf Coast Area Credit Union, lifetime member of the Texas Association of School Business Officials and Texas State Teachers Association, and a 55 year member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where he served on the its board as a Director and Finance Chairman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ella Louis Sherron. He is survived by his wife, Doris Sherron of Baytown; daughter, Darla Racz-McKenna and husband, John McKenna of Houston; son, Mark David Sherron and wife, Linda of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, John David Racz and wife, Sarah, William Christopher Racz and fiancé, Rachel Coolidge, Sherron Marie Racz, Caitlin Lassiter, and Zane Lassiter; great granddaughter, Mila Lassiter; niece, Cherie Rash Carrabba; and great nephew, Ryan Rash. He is also survived by a host of friends who will miss his sense of humor, great laugh, his many pranks, and wise counsel.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, 501 S. Alexander, Baytown, TX 77520 with Rev. David Meeker-Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park in Pasadena.
Serving as pallbearers will be John McKenna, Don Westbrook, Christian Sorenson, Charles Fulton, John Rowland, and John David Racz. Honorary pallbearer will be William Racz, serving in the U. S. Navy.
His family would like to thank their many friends, the medical staff of Baytown's Kindred Hospital, and his caregivers at St. James House of Baytown and Cedar Bayou Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center for their love and support.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church or the charity of one's choice.
