

Barbara Charlene Hampton, 80, of Highlands, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 in Clear Lake. She was born July 24, 1935 in Artesia, New Mexico to her late parents, Clarence Palmer and Mattie Smith Palmer.
Barbara had lived in Highlands most of her life and was a security guard for Vanguard Security. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Highlands and formerly attended Eagle Heights Fellowship in Mont Belvieu. She was very active in the Highlands Community Center, TOPS, Mary Kay Cosmetics and numerous church affiliated organizations. Her love of ""red birds"" is what made her appreciate nature so much.
In honor of one of her favorite sayings, ""bring my roses while I am alive"", it is suggested that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Second Baptist Church 400 E. Wallisville Road Highlands, TX 77562-3828, (281) 426-5557.
Those that wish to honor her memory are asked to wear an item of your choice in the color of red, which was her favorite.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her 3 brothers, Hurley Palmer, Jimmy Rodgers and Elgin Mallory.
Survivors include her children, Oran B. Hampton, Jr.; Lois Malone; Sharon Owens and her husband Ron; Laura Kovalcik and her husband Larry and Sherman Hampton and his wife Shalia; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; niece, Janet Flusche and a sister, Alpha Farmer.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Funeral Home with Rev. Bo Rosser and Rev. Scott Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.
