

Barbara Lou Russell, beloved sister, mother and grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the age of 74, and will be greatly missed by the family who loved her very much. She courageously fought cancer until the end and was an inspiration to many.
Barbara (Gran) was a lifelong Baytown resident and a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church. She retired after more than 30 years of service from the Business Department of the Goose Creek ISD. She generously cared for her family, loved to shop, cook, and work in her yard, and had many friends and cousins that she met for frequent lunch dates. She dearly loved her grandchildren and enjoyed celebrating their various accomplishments. She was a faithful supporter of her church and loved her involvement with her friends there.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Louise Dunkerly and her husband of 53 years, James Carroll Russell. She is survived by her sons, Danny Russell and wife, Sandra and Craig Russell and wife, Sharon; sister, Margot LeGrand and husband, Larry; and brother-in-law John Russell and wife, Audrey. Grandchildren, Brad Russell, Amber Russell, Haley Russell and Courtney Russell. She will be missed by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. Also, her sweet dog, Foxy, who never left her side.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Beverly Tune and Rev. Ken Goodell officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, October 2, 2009 from 5-7 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Russell, Allen Russell, Gary Russell, Larry LeGrand, PeeWee Thomas, and Robert Guenther. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Friendship Class of Grace United Methodist Church
The family would like to thank the following for all their loving support during the past year: Bill & Irma Cunningham, Dorothy Herring, Mary Guenther, Ann Mary Pelage, Faith Community Hospice, and all the many friends and family who cared for and loved Gran.
