Bernice Rose Kovalcik

Bernice Rose Kovalcik, 91, of Baytown was born April 18, 1925, in Fayetteville, TX and passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017, in a local hospital. She was an active and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the KJZT.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vince and Francis Orsak; husband, Steve H. Kovalcik; sister, Leona Kristoff; and brothers, Eddie, C. J., and Jim Orsak. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Laura Kovalcik, Jimmy Kovalcik, and Ronnie and Candy Kovalcik, all of Baytown and Tommy L. and Candy Kovalick of Clear Lake; sister, Evelyn Ilse of Ellenger; sister-in-law, Margaret Orsak of Baytown; grandchildren and their spouses, Angela and Lanny Lawrence, Steven and Jenny Kovalcik, James and Marin Fisher, Carrie and Brent Hagen, Courtney Kovalcik, Kaci Kovalcik, and Kade Kovalcik and Christina Gager; and great grandchildren, Lanny, Jr., Ella Rae, Lyla, Stevie Ray, Luke, Jonathan, Matthew, Grayson, Paige Rose, Camden, Piper Rose, Karson, Sydney, and Presley.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Monday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1907 Carolina St., Baytown, TX 77520, with Rev. Edmund Eduarte officiating. Burial will follow at San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and Billy Ilse, Edward Orsak, and Steven ""Bubba"" Orsak.

In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic School, 1811 Carolina St., Baytown, TX 77520.
