Betty Jo Elliot-Chambers passed away from her physical body into the gates of Heaven on Monday, October 30th, while surrounded by many family and friends. She was 54. She was born in Baytown and a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. She lived in Austin until 3 years ago.
Betty Jo was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Eric Chambers; parents Joe Dallon Elliot and Mary Elizabeth Elliot, as well as many aunts and uncles and many friends.
Betty Jo is survived by her beloved daughters and son-in-law, Kim and Joe Platt, Lesley “Nilla” Soriano. Also she leaves behind her 3 wonderful grandchildren, whom she dearly loved and enjoyed spending all of her time with, Eric Platt, Madison Platt, and Gabriel Soriano.
Besides a great passion for her family, she also had a great love for animals. As a child she had many types of animals from a “poodle to a pony”. This love for animals eventually led to her life’s work, grooming and taking care of animals in Austin for over 20 years. She had a great love for the Lord and was a strong believer in prayer.
Betty Jo also had a love for art. She loved to paint, and her most recent hobby was making beaded jewelry. She was so talented in every aspect of life and always had a big smile to make everyone else happy. Betty Jo’s laughter will be heard forever. Betty Jo never met a stranger, this was a gift she received from her “Pops”.
The family is planning a private Spring burial in the Hill Country. Also the family wishes to thank everyone for the calls, come bys, and beautiful flowers. Kim would like to especially thank her friends who showed so much support during this terrible loss.
Remember Mom, “The road goes on forever, and the party never ends”. Thanks for making our lives so full of joy.
