Betty Ruth Harman, aged 92, of Tomball, Texas went to be with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on February 18, 2025. She was born April 7, 1932, in Maracaibo, Venezuela to Opal Wilson and Lloyd L. Gibson, Sr. She shared her young life with two older brothers, Lloyd and Verne and an older sister named Peggy. When she was sixteen her youngest sibling, Sharon, was born.
She was a homemaker and helpmate to husband Oswall Harman, assisting in his bookkeeping business. Additionally, she worked at Lee College Library helping students with research projects. She then worked at Highlands Elementary as a library assistant.
With a desire and ambition for a college education, she at the age of 41, became a student at Lee Junior College, graduating with high honors. Six years later she graduated from Sam Houston University magna cum laude with a library science degree. She served as librarian at Crosby High School, finishing her career at Sterling High School.
Betty Harman’s love of books led her to write them. Her favorite genre was historical fiction for intermediate aged children. She was even talking about a new story line in her last days. She was also involved in quilting, gardening, and playing the harmonica.
Her greatest joy was the church and people. Throughout her life, she was pouring the wisdom and practicality of Bible truths into children and adolescents. Everywhere she went she collected people that became lifelong friends. She generously hosted gatherings in her home. She leaves behind many friends from Northside Baptist Church in Highlands, and Graceview Baptist Church in Tomball.
