

Beverly Ann McCartney, of Baytown passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the age of 75. Beverly was born on September 4, 1938 in Roanoke, Illinois to Raymond and Frances Elaine Benson. The family moved to Baytown when she was 8 years old. Beverly graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1956. She later married William Burl McCartney, Sr. and the couple had 5 children. Beverly was a nurse's aide for many years and a longtime member of Baytown Revival Center. She also enjoyed reading, drawing, painting and making baby quilts. Her true joy was spending time with and doting on her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also well known for her homemade biscuits and gravies.
Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, Burl; her father, Ray; step-mother, Willie Mae Benson; brothers, Norman Lee and Charles Michael Benson; son, Clifton Eugene McCartney, Sr. and grandsons, Jeffery Clark McCartney and Joshua Randall McCartney.
She is survived by daughter, Necia Monk; sons and their spouses, William Burl McCartney, Jr. (Kimberly), Lewis McCartney (Rhonda) and Benny McCartney (Mary); mother, Frances Elaine Cobb; 3 brothers, Freddie, Cary and Brett Benson; 2 sisters, Linda Searcy and Renita Goudeaux; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; numerous other family members, friends and her beloved dog, Chico.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Lewis McCartney officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Beverly's name to Harbor Hospice, 1600 James Bowie Drive Ste. D-111, Baytown, Texas 77520 or to a charity if one's choice.
