

Billye Ward, 88, of Baytown was born in Taylor, TX on January 7, 1923 to A. C. & Greta Higgins Lott and passed away Friday, January 28, 2011 in a local healthcare facility. She was a 1939 graduate of La Grange High School and married Henry Adkins Ward, Jr. on August 1, 1941. Henry died on Dec 8, 2001. Billye was active in P.T.A. at Anson Jones Elementary School in Baytown and has a life membership in the Parent Teacher Association. Billye loved to read and helped start the Wm. Hamlett Library at Central Baptist Church in Baytown. She was also media director of Chapel of the Hills Baptist Church of Buchannan Dam. Billye was a Sunday school teacher for fifty five years. She also served as an active member of the Women�s Missionary Union for many years. Billye was a choir member for fifty years. Billye & Henry went on trips to help build churches in nine states. They loved traveling in their R.V. and visited 48 states, Canada & Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband; and stepson, John David Ward. She is survived by her sons, Michael Ward & wife, Carolyn of Baytown, Gerald Ward of Industry, and Dale Ward & wife, Jan of Friendswood; grandchildren, Tana Davis & husband, Rob of Katy, Derik Ward & wife, Lisa of Horseshoe Bay, Alan & wife Brandi of Baytown, Brian & wife, Tammy of Pasadena, Jason & wife, Alicia of Denton, Dr. Wendy Valicek & husband, Dr Ryan Valicek of Pearland, Trevor Ward and wife, Vienda of Houston, Katy Ward of College Station, and John David Ward, Jr. and wife, Cheri and Travis Ward, all of Mississippi; twelve great grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, January 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Rose officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
