Bonnie, known to many as the Snowflake Donut Lady, slipped away from us in the early hours of April 29, 2012. Saved at an early age, she was a Baptist by choice. The fourth of six children born to Dan and Bammie Tooman, Bonnie was born June 12, 1920, grew up in Carnegie, Oklahoma, graduated from Carnegie High School in 1938, then moved to Texas in 1939. Her marriage to T.J. Cammack gave birth to Edward Keith, Cynda Lee, and Snowflake Donuts. She owned and operated Snowflake Donuts at 1902 N. Shepherd from 1952 until 1971. After retiring from her shop, she was a figure in her son's Baytown shop until just days before her passing. Whether hand-cutting her donuts or checking other people's rolled kolaches, perfection was her goal. Her attention to detail was also put in her quilting, creating many Cathedral Quilts, and passing the skill and love to her daughter-in-law. Following Cynda's passing due to a stroke, a time which Bonnie was her caregiver, Bonnie lived in Baytown with her sister with whom she visited Ed's Snowflake shop daily, helping roll kolaches, bag donut holes, make coffee. She spent the last years living, laughing, and loving with Wanda, her best friend, sister, and cohort in many funny antics.
Bonnie is predeceased by her parents; her siblings Eleanor, Eli, and D.W.; and her beloved Cynda. She is survived by her son Ed (Vicki) Cammack of Liberty; grandson Paul (Lavisa) Young of Liberty; granddaughter Shellie Guinn of Houston; great grandchildren Kale and Madison Guinn and Sadie Bott; sister Wanda Ashby of Baytown; Norman (Marian) Tooman of Bakersfield, California; and special niece Patty (Clarence) Harris of Waller. Bonnie will be sorely missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and the Morning Coffee Bunch.
She was a gentle soul and we loved her dearly.
Her family will receive friends Wednesday, May 2, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 12 Noon at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX, 77521 (281) 422-8111.
