Bonnie Hughes

Bonnie Hughes, 91, a resident of Highlands since 1946, was born November 7, 1922, in Stapleton, NE and passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014, in a local hospital. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Highlands.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. J. Hughes; daughter, Sue Hughes Franta; and sister, Beulah Barnett. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Steve Barnett of Baytown; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Glenda Hughes of Highlands, Richard and Jean Hughes of Austin, and Dr. James and De Hughes of Conroe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Byron and Florence Compton and Billy and Dorothy Compton, all of Baytown; grandchildren, Burte Hughes, Kate Habbit, Katrina Williams, Michal Hughes, Bonnie Nelson, Carolyn Minor, Jason Barnett, and Brent Porter; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, February 10, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Beau Rosser officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brent Porter, Joey Minor, Burte Hughes, Jason Barnett, Ethan Hann, and Steve Barnett.
