Bruce was born on June 12th, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, to the late Jesse and Audrey Shell. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962, during which time he completed his high school education and discovered his love and passion for truck driving.
An avid truck driver for over 50 years, Bruce was an easygoing, jovial extrovert who befriended everyone he met and was dearly beloved by all. Even after retiring in 2010, Bruce visited truck stops every chance he got to inspire, uplift, and make new, lifelong friends. He also often visited the local Pregnancy Resource Center and Planned Parenthood to share his faith, joy for life, and passion for protecting the unborn with anyone who would lend an ear.
A devout Christian, Bruce was a cherished member of the First Filipino-American United Methodist Church for many years before he met his church family at Baker Road Baptist in 2007.
Bruce is lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Ruth Shell; sister, Jane; three sons, Jeremy, Jason, and Nathan; two daughters, Heather and Elisabeth; five grandchildren, Hailey, Tucker, Madison, Caleb, and Molly; and two great-grandchildren, Westland and Lenna Mae.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 29 at 11:00am at Baker Road Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas.
