Carrie Evelyn Eiland, 86, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in Houston, Texas, with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 14, 1939, in Crockett, Texas, to the late James Louis and Zula Delilah Downs Bowdoin. On June 11, 1960, Carrie married the love of her life, a young man by the name of Gerald Eiland. They spent the next fifty years together raising their two boys, while building a beautiful life together. They especially cherished their years in the beautiful home they built in Hearne, Texas, where they created countless memories before Gerald’s passing in 2011.
Carrie pursued many interests, some of which included her love of playing games on her IPad and doing jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling and going camping. She loved to spend time with her husband while they fished, but she would not bait her own hook. She would sit patiently and wait for him to come back over to where she was to have him do it for her. Carrie was a fabulous cook, often making sure her family always had a good meal. She could cook just about anything they wanted except for brussel sprouts! Carrie found pleasure in the simple things of life like spending time at home with her family and friends. She also loved hanging out with her precious grandpup Sadie, always having a bag of carrots ready for her arrival. Carrie adored her so much that she eventually informed her granddaughter Shelby that she needed visitation rights, having her sleep over regularly. She was one of the most giving women you could meet, in her younger days, she could often be found volunteering in nursing homes doing the residents hair. Carrie was full of life and could easily light up any room she entered with her big personality. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Gerald; and her brother Bobby Charles Bowdoin. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her sons David Eiland and wife Theresa, and Jeff Eiland; her grandchildren Corey Eiland and wife Mindy, Cameron Eiland and wife Haley, and Shelby Eiland and partner Ace Enderli; her great-grandchildren Grayson, Liam, Sawyer and Collins Eiland; her brother Donald Bowdoin; her numerous nieces; and nephews; her grandpup Sadie; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
