

Cecil was a lifelong resident of Baytown. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy, where he served as a gunner during WWII. His troop transport ship was one of the first ships to liberate the Philippine Islands. After the war, Cecil received his GED from Robert E. Lee High School and married the love of his life, Oda B. Pittman. Cecil and Oda B. had three children, Mike, Cecilia and Tim, to whom they devoted their lives. Cecil worked for Exxon for forty years, retiring in 1986 as a training supervisor. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved Oda B., whom he had been married to for 66 years, along with family and friends. Cecil was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas, where he served as a Deacon and on numerous boards and committees. He was also a member of the Exxon Annuitants. Cecil James Anderson was a gentle, loving man who displayed the love of Jesus to all he encountered. He will be dearly missed.
Cecil is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Rebecca Anderson; his grandson, Joshua Lindsey; his brothers, Wesley Woods, Ocie Woods, Huie Woods, Raymond Woods, Jenkins Woods, Louis Woods, Henry Woods and Paul Anderson and his sister, Ina Buckles. Left to cherish memories of him are his wife of 66 years, Oda B. Anderson; his son Timothy Lee Anderson and wife, Jane; his son Michael Ray Anderson and fiancé, Sandra Sawyer; his daughter Cecilia Tilotta and husband, Dan; his grandchildren, Raye Lynn McMullan, Crystal Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Andrew Anderson, James Lee Tilotta and Tara Tilotta; his great grandchildren, Rebecca McMullan, Brett McMullan and Tucker Trammell; extended family, Tracy and Mike Waites, Stephanie Sawyer and Mike and Brittany Sawyer; as well as numerous church and family friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown with a funeral service to follow. Rev. Mark Wells and Rev. Sidney Woods will officiate. Burial will take place in Cedarcrest Cemetery in Baytown.
Honoring Mr. Anderson by serving as pallbearers will be Dan Tilotta, James Lee Tilotta, Matthew Lee Anderson, Andrew Robert Anderson, Pete Enderli and Charles Guidry.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Swan Manor and Harbor Hospice for providing excellent and thoughtful care to Cecil.
