

Cecile Elizabeth Singleton Dean died peacefully Tuesday May 31, 2005. She was born in Boyce, LA, April 16, 1908 to P. J. and Rose Henderson Singleton. Brothers Philip Jackson Singleton and Francis Douglas Singleton predeceased her.
Mrs. Dean graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA in 1929 and taught high school English until her marriage to Lucien Barksdale Dean in 1931. The Lucien Dean family moved to Texas in 1934. She attended the University of Texas and graduated with a Library Science degree in 1960 and was an elementary school librarian for many years with the Austin ISD. Moving to Baytown, TX in 1975, she became active in Trinity Episcopal Church where she was a dedicated member of the Altar and Trinity Guilds.
Mrs. Dean is survived by two daughters, Marcia Dean Stasney, and husband Leonard, and Rose Dean Rogers, and husband Bill, all of whom live in Baytown, TX. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, William Dean Rogers of Wichita Falls, TX, Anne Stasney Betancourt of Germantown, TN, Ben Dean Rogers of Nacogdoches, TX, John Allen Stasney of San Antonio, TX, Tracey Elizabeth Rogers of Sugar Land, TX, Mark Travis Stasney of Austin, TX, and Daniel Gordon Rogers of Houston, TX., a niece, Cecile Tate of Lake Charles, LA and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be conducted, Saturday, June 4th, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2701 West Main, Baytown, TX with the Rev. Joseph Spitler and the Rev. Desmond Goonesekera officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parish hall an hour before and an hour after the Service.
Her cremains will be interned privately at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Pineville, LA.
