

Christian Thompson Ruckman of Dayton passed away at the young age of 18 on January 7, 2017, doing what he loved, hunting ducks with his friends. Chris was born May 27, 1998, in Nassau Bay, TX. He was the fourth of six children. He was a kind and helpful child who accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized at the age of seven. He played little league baseball from the age of 4 and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed watching football as well and rooted for the New England Patriots. He played baseball and golf for the Dayton Broncos and he graduated Dayton High School in 2016. Chris began hunting with his big brother Jake around the age of 16 and it quickly became his passion. He loved his family and friends. Chris was employed with Showbiz Cinemas and worked in the café. However, he had recently passed the ASVAB and was intent on joining the Navy.
Chris has joined many great grandparents, grandparents and great aunts and a great uncle who preceded him in death. Chris leaves behind grandparents Conda and Mary Ruckman, Doris and Jim Headrick, Larry and Talitha Trygstad, and Rita Trygstad. Also left behind to carry on his memory are his parents, Steve and Teresa Ruckman, his siblings, Jake Johnston, Elizabeth Honeycutt and her husband Travis, Samuel Ruckman, Jared Ruckman, and Timothy Ruckman, as well as his niece Evalyn and nephew Kenton Honeycutt. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also mourn his passing.
His family will receive friends at the Eagle Heights Fellowship, 14120 Hwy 146, Mont Belvieu, TX 77580, Thursday, January 12, 2017, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Bro. Scott Neal and Rev. Ronnie Webb officiating. Chris will have a joint funeral with close friend and fellow hunter Spencer William Hall. A private graveside service will be held at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton on Friday with Rev. Danny Biddy officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jake Johnston, Samuel Ruckman, J. R. Ruckman, Timothy Ruckman, Travis Honeycutt, and Kaylor Key.
