

Clinton Doyle Prothro was born on March 10, 1938, in Centralia, TX, in Trinity County, to William and Evie Prothro. He attended school and graduated from Apple Springs High School in 1956. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1959, stationed for two years in France, near Paris, as an Engineer Specialist. Then he attended Lee College in Baytown, from 1959 to 1960. It was in Baytown, he met Connie Sue Sarver whom he married Feb. 3, 1961. They were married for 40 years, before she died from breast cancer in 2002. From their union were born three sons, Gary Dwayne, Jerry Dean and Terry Don Prothro.
Clint spent his career in chemical plants. From 1961 to 1962 he worked for Dow-Batasha in Freeport, TX. From 1962 to 1971 he worked with Marbon in Baytown, TX. From 1971 to 2000 he worked for Bayer Chemical and was Operation Day Supervisor for Bayer Nitric Acid Plant. He retired from Bayer in 2000.
Clint was preceded in death by his wife Connie, two of his sons, Gary Dwayne and Jerry Dean, plus his sister, Margie Borchers, and brother, Clois Prothro.
Clint was a member of Lakewood Church of Christ, Baytown, TX for many years and served as a Deacon. He was dearly loved by so many because of his heart for service. He faithfully taught a Bible Class for Senior Citizens each week plus directed a camp for the Seniors at HEB Camp each year. He was the Secretary of the Appraisal Board of Chambers County. He also enjoyed working at the Gulf Coast Christian Youth Camp and served on its board in Columbus, TX for many years.
On March 13, 2004, Clint married Elaine Mickey Green of Abilene, TX. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Prothro; son, Terry Don Prothro, wife Tammi and children, Courtney, Tyler and Bethany Prothro of Baytown; brother, Seldon Prothro and wife Marie of Centralia, TX; stepchildren, Melissa Denton, husband Jack and children Jonathan and Megan Denton of Ft. Worth, TX, and Jeff Green, wife Kristianne and children Akiva and Asher Green of Plano, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Medellin, her staff, and the nurses/caregivers that serve on 2-South Wing of San Jacinto Methodist Hospital for their compassion in taking care of Clint during his time of illness.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Earthman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., in the funeral home chapel, David Ellis officiating. Interment will follow at Johnson-Tullos Cemetery, in Centralia, TX.
In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to the Gulf Coast Christian Youth Camp, care of Richard Fletcher, 2424 Airline Dr., Brenham, TX 77833, or the charity of your choice.
