Daniel Lee Johnson

Daniel Lee ""D. J."" Johnson, 30, of Mont Belvieu was born March 5, 1978 in Sulphur Springs, TX and passed away Friday, July 18, 2008 in Houston, TX. He was a proud member of Ironworkers Local Union 135 and was dedicated first and foremost to his family and then his job, which he was extremely passionate about. He loved his family and enjoyed playing with his kids, watching sports, playing pool and spending time with his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Vanessa McMurtry of Mont Belvieu; son, Daniel Lee Johnson Jr. of Channelview; daughter, Jordyn Elizabeth Johnson of Mont Belvieu; stepdaughters, Shaelyn Dargin of Channelview and Kaitlyn Wilson of Mont Belvieu; mother, Melanie Johnson Barnes of Houston; brothers and sisters, Dana Johnson of Houston, Stephanie Johnson of Crosby, Joshua Johnson of Dayton, Anna Johnson of Highlands, Erica Johnson of Houston and Jacob Barnes of Meridian, MS; and grandmother, Ellen Husby of Dayton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Phillip Barnes, Samuel Coleman, Johnny Coleman, Michael Collette, Paul Collette and Craig Bourque. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Lee Johnson Jr., Joshua Johnson, Jacob Barnes, Marc Burns, Kerry Burns, Jason Sutch, Gary Sutch, Matthew Kelley, Rick Kelley, Royce Havelin, Hans Husby, employees of Deep South Crane & Rigging Co. and brothers of Iron Workers Local Union #135.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Pastor Clayton Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton.
