

Douglas John Banks, Sr. was born on August 21, 1963, in Baytown, Texas, to J W Banks, Jr, and Lorene Kelley Banks. He entered into the gates of Heaven on Monday, January 29th, 2024, after a four-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Doug attended James Bowie Elementary, Cedar Bayou Jr High, and Robert E Lee High School, where he graduated in 1981. He attended Lee College, where he most enjoyed psychology and English composition classes. Doug was employed at Coastal Water Authority for roughly twenty years until his health forced him into early retirement. Doug enjoyed music, traveling, gardening, and time spent with family and friends.
Doug was a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church. He loved to sing and would provide special music when requested to do so. When his health prevented him from attending in person, he often participated virtually.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents J W and Lorene Banks, as well as his in-laws, Wm. and Hope Wallace. He is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, Beth Anne Wallace Banks; son, John Banks and wife Rebekah (Ford), and children, Lily and Julie. He is also survived by his son, James Banks and his spouse Elijah Banks, of Oakland.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm, Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas 77521. Funeral service will be at 10 am, Friday, February 2, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Tilton Cemetery in Cove, Texas. Pallbearers: Elijah Banks, Jason Cox, Jon Covington, Jacob Ford, Russell Mason and Shane Seymour.
