Erma was born December 28, 1929 in Marlin, Texas to George Bartus and Ollie Louise Caldwell. She was the seventh of eight children. She attended school in Rosebud, Texas. She and her husband Weldon Cox were wed on October 24, 1946. They moved to Baytown and three of their born and lived briefly in Texas City where the fourth child was born. They moved back to Baytown shortly thereafter where they purchased a home and raised their family.
Mrs. Cox had a talent as a seamstress. Later in life, she was co-owner with her husband of a local well-known air conditioning company. She also owned Excellence beauty shop for several years. She was proud member of the Baytown Art League where she won several awards for her paintings. She was also a member of the local YMCA.
Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Henry Cox, her son Lloyd Cox and her daughter in law Tessie Cox.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Vance and her husband Allen Vance, Yvonne Brasher and her husband Al Brasher, her son Kieth Cox and eight grandchildren. She is also proudly survived by twelve great-grandchildren and special friends Nelzita Smith, Richard Bardwell and Bill Lowrey.
Services are under the direction of Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Rd. Baytown, Texas 77521. Family will be receiving friends for visitation on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 10:00am to 10:30am in The Chapel of Chimes Mausoleum at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd. Baytown, Texas 77521. Graveside service is to follow at 10:30am Memory Gardens Cemetery.
