Eugene Gerard ""Gene Laplante

Eugene Gerard ""Gene"" Laplante, 74, of Baytown, TX was born July 11, 1939, in Cockeysville, MD and went home with the Lord on March 9, 2014, with his family by his side. Gene received his Business Real Estate degree from Lee College. He was a talented and well-loved man by many. He was avid about pursuing his hobbies which included tractor pulling, racing cars, traveling, and fishing. Gene also loved music. He could pick up any instrument and master it almost immediately. He played in local events with his family growing up and enjoyed playing on a church praise team later in life.

Gene had influential views on many things. He was chosen as an evaluator for the Boy Scouts of America and was elected to Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. Gene served as the Vice President of the Webb Historical Society and was chosen to serve on the Lee College Presidential Search Committee.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Dominique Laplante and Thelma Collins Laplante. He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn Bardin Laplante of Baytown; his children and their spouses, Nick and Stephanie Laplante of Mt. Enterprise, TX; Jeff A. and Alison Smith of Sugarland, TX; Mark Morris and Kathy Tullos of Austin, TX; Michael and Teri Pullin of Keller, TX; Pamela and Greg Hinton of Midland, TX; Lowell and Jamie Bell of St. Petersburg, FL; Charles and Coty Bell of Houston; sister, Thelma Denett, of Bridport, VT; twenty-one grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Gene was a member of The Fellowship at Northside Baptist Church, 300 Cedar Bayou Rd., Baytown, TX 77520, where his memorial service will be Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 11:00a.m. with Rev. Dean Grigsby officiating.

In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Youth Ministries, P. O. Box 97, Mt. Enterprise, TX 75681.
