

Evelyn Robson, age 81, longtime resident of Baytown passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Evelyn was born November 13, 1925 in Lake Charles, LA and moved to Baytown in 1926. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and the University of Texas, majoring in math and science. She later received her Masters degree in math from the University of Houston.
Evelyn was a career math teacher who loved teaching. She taught at Robert E. Lee High School and later Ross S. Sterling High School before becoming math coordinator for Goose Creek I.S.D. She was proud of the work she did in association with the late Dr. Burnett Johnson in establishing the science and math labs at Sterling High School. She was also a trip sponsor through Sterling High School for several years for foreign student exchange trips to Northern Scandinavian countries.
Evelyn was a very religious person with strong Christian beliefs. She was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she was a lay reader, lay Eucharistic minister, lay Eucharistic visitor, and a member of the Daughters of the King and Saint Cecilia Guild. Evelyn was also in Cursillo.
She was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Epsilon Psi Chapter for key women educators, P.E.O., and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi, with many sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hattie and Robert Robson, brother, Dr. Robert E. Robson, sister, Grace Hargrave, and brothers-in-law, Norman Hargrave, John Marder, and Tom Price and is survived by her sisters, Mary Marder and Esther Price; sister-in-law, Lois Robson; nephews, Robert Hargrave and wife Jan, Norman Hargrave and wife Tina, Robert Marder, John Marder, Tom Price and wife Donna and Edward Robson; nieces, Linda Price, Mary Ann Price, Carol Price, and Pam Price; close friend, Marsha Williams and her children Sam and Margaret; godson, Elijah Wilson; and cousins Bill and Don Richardson and other family members.
Evelyn was a sweet, outgoing person and was always friendly. She had a take charge style and was a leader in everything that she got involved with. Evelyn was always upbeat with a positive attitude, even during her cancer treatments. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, January 29, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Nick Novak and Rev. Joseph Spitler officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church after the burial.
Serving as pallbearers will be Don Richardson, Bill Richardson, Paul Hargrave, Norman Hargrave, Tommy Richardson and Robert Hargrave. Honorary pallbearer will be John Benes.
