

Gary grew up in Mt. Clemons, Michigan where he graduated from Mt. Clemons High School in 1965. After high school he attended Michigan State University for two years before joining the Army.
Gary joined the Army shortly after his 20th birthday and served for 7 years, and 2 tours of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He was the recipient of numerous achievements, including The Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart and The Distinguished Flying Cross. He was honorably discharged in 1974, achieving the rank of Captain.
Gary later worked for BMC as a Software Manager where he eventually retired in 2014.
Gary was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, the Houston Astros and especially supporting his grandchildren in all of their sporting events.
Gary was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Raymond, and his parents George and Imogene Raymond.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Melanie and her husband, Kevin Holifield, and Amanda and her husband, Brian Lightfoot, all of League City, Texas; his brother, Gregory P Raymond and his partner, Karen Renaud of Waterford, Michigan, sister Jenice and husband, Steve Tarr of Parker, Colorado, sister, Cynthia and husband, Thomas Tucker of Maryville, Tennessee, brother, Glenn Raymond of Colorado Springs, Colorado, brother, George and wife, Sherry Raymond of Sandy, Utah and sister Lynn and wife, Lauren Raymond of Fort Collins, Colorado; his grandchildren Sydney Lee and her husband, Michael, Emily Holifield, Justin Stanley, Jordan Stanley, Kade Holifield, Alexa Lightfoot, and Ryder Lightfoot; and his nieces and nephews and other relatives.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on Wednesday October 25, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday October 26, 2017 at Navarre Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Tommy Clements. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gregory Raymond, Glenn Raymond, George Raymond, Kevin Holifield, Brian Lightfoot, and Justin Stanley.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Disabled Veterans or Wounded Warriors Foundations.
