

Gaylon Wayne “Gator” Emerson Sr. passed away Saturday morning, July 2, 2005, at a Webster nursing home. He was born February 24, 1930 in Douglass, Texas to D. Troy and Willie Mae Emerson. He was a pipe fitter at a number of refineries and a Life member of VFW Post #912. He was the Post Commander from 1985 to 1986. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 1 granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Beatrice Emerson of Baytown, sons & daughters-in-law, Troyce & Kathy Emerson of Dayton, Gaylon “Buddy” Emerson and fiancé Wanda Tillman of Highlands, Jimmie & Susan Townsend of Mt. Belvieu, adopted son, Roger Watton of Baytown, daughters & sons-in-law, Pernie Cathy & Robert Nalley of Atkins, South Carolina, Rhonda Emerson of Spring, Tx., Nadean & Donald Bossley of Cleveland, sister & brother-in-law, Fay & Nolan Shiller of Nacogdoches, brother, R. T. Emerson of Cushing, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, 10:00 am at Navarre Chapel with Chaplain Ed Thurston officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be members of the VFW. Honorary pallbearer will be Perry Simmons.
