Gene Edward Gunn

Gene Edward Gunn, 87, of Old River was born August 17, 1928, in Baytown and passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, in a local hospital. He was formerly a member and deacon at Eastside Baptist Church in Baytown and was a current member at Old River Baptist Church. He retired from Exxon Refinery and was a member of the Silver Streak Travel Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Mary Gunn; son, Michael Gunn; brother, Douglas Gunn; and grandson, Christopher McLarrin Sherry. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruby Gunn; son, Larry Gunn; daughters and son-in-law, Pat Erwin and Janet and John Sherry; grandchildren, Angela, Cindy, Gene, Laura, Brandon, Jeremy, Danielle, Andrew, Steven, and John Michael; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; special family members, Brenda, Stephanie, and Randy and children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends at Old River Baptist Church, 12948 FM1409, Dayton, TX 77535, on Saturday, May14, 2016, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Biddy officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons.
