

George H. Bland, 89, of Baytown, TX was born May 22, 1916 in Winnfield, LA and passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in a local hospital. He retired from ExxonMobil Refinery as a Chief Operator. He was a U. S. Navy WWII veteran and a member of 1st Christian Church and the Baytown Lion’s Club.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale with Rev. Bob Dees officiating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Bland; sister, Allien Herlitz; brother, J. B. Bland; and nephew, John Herlitz and is survived by his niece, Mary Herlitz of Houston; nephew, Craig Bland and wife Jeanette of La Porte; great nephews, John and Michael Herlitz and Jason and Scott Bland; and special neighbors, Judi Mitchell and Bill Scott.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the 1st Christian Church Memorial Fund, 201 Forrest Ave., Baytown, TX 77520.
