

George Alton Garrett, 77, lifelong resident of Baytown passed away Friday, January 28, 2005.He was born 12-17-1927, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1945. He attended Texas A&M. He married Helon Ball 11-7-46. He worked at General Tire and Rubber Co. for 5 years, then he was employed by Ethyl Corp. June 1952 as an Utility Operator. He was promoted to foreman in 1955, then to Department Supervisor in 1974. He retired 2-1-1984. He was an avid sports fan and fisherman. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder.
He is at rest in peace after a long struggle with illness at Green Acres Nursing Home.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Dora Mae and Lloyd C. Garrett Sr.; grandsons, Jeffrey Scott, and Timothy Fredrick Stuart.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helon Ball Garrett; daughters, Kathleen Stuart and husband Tim, Margie Halford and husband John; grandchildren, Amy Kaminski and husband James, Melanie Risko and husband Scott, Angela Cambern, and Megan Cambern; great grandchildren, Tyler, Lauren, and Sarah Kaminski, and Laci Risko; several aunts, several cousins, and many friends.
The family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 P.m. on Sunday. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday at Navarre Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Richard Kleiman.
Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tad Patton, Euclid Norris, Clyde Casey, Dean Corbell, Matt Williams, and Larry Wilkey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Anderson, Leon Washburn, Herbert Herbert, Don Hyde, Cecil Hill, Peter Buenz, Hollis Ehlig, Pat Bowers, and Don Harriman.
