Gilbert Doyle McEachern, known to his loved ones as Mc, passed away on February 7, 2024, at the age of 84 in Baytown, Texas. Mc was born on May 3, 1939, in Austin, Texas, to Paul Gilbert and Loraine (Strom) McEachern. His parents owned a florist business in Austin, and Mc grew up with an appreciation for beautiful flowers and a natural green thumb.
The first in his family to go to college, Mc attended Sam Houston State University and pursued a degree in Printing. It was at college that he met his wife, Beth, when he crashed a freshman dance on her second day of school. The two were married on December 31, 1960. After college, Mc proudly joined the United States Air Force in 1962, serving two tours in Vietnam and Thailand during the Vietnam War. He later continued his military service by serving in the National Guard Reserve.
Mc had an impressive career, starting as a Sales Representative for Steck Printing Company. He went on to become the Owner and Operator of Bluebonnet Printing Company. He later served as an Auditor of Print Services with the Texas State Auditor's Office, a Print Service Specialist at Lockheed Martin, and a Territory Manager at Xerox Corporation.
While living in Austin, Mc was an active member of Hyde Park Baptist Church. He lived out his faith by serving in the youth group and as a member of the church’s deacon body for many years.
Mc is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Beth McEachern. He was a cherished father to Rick (and wife Nancy) McEachern, Lori (and husband Jerry) Burton, and Wendy (and husband Rusty) Barnhill. Mc was also a proud grandfather to Leah (and husband Scott) Mills; Michael McEachern; Kylie (and husband Alan) Sulak; Jake (and wife Kelsey) Burton; and Morgan, Madison, Meredith, McKenna, and Mylee Barnhill. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Braham, Zeke, and Luke Sulak; and Levi, Poppy, and Calla Mills. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Loraine and Paul Gilbert McEachern, and his stepmother, Marina Kokel McEachern.
He will be most remembered by family and friends as a kind, gentle man with a great sense of humor. His three greatest loves were his wife, his family, and his Lord.
A visitation for Gilbert will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, TX 77521, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
