Gladys Gertrude Morgan

Ms. Gladys Gertrude Morgan, 87, of Highlands, TX was born August 27, 1919, in Groveton, where she lived until her marriage in 1939. She lived for a brief time in Diboll, before settling in Highlands. She went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 27, 2006.

Ms. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Allen Morgan and her parents, Esther and Sidney McAdams, and three sisters. She and her husband raised four children. The children and their spouses are Barbara and Allen Lane of Weatherford, OK, Patricia Morgan Chandler of Houston, William Allen “Buddy” and Iris Morgan of Lynchburg; and Dr. Audie and Sandra Morgan of Cleburne.

“Granny” Morgan, was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren whom she loved and enjoyed telling her stories and dispensing advice freely to one and all. The 12 grandchildren and their spouses are Michael and Darla Chandler of Mount Belvieu, Philip and Susan Lane of Waxhaw, NC, Melissa and Gary Simpson of Joaquin, David and Shane Chandler of Great Falls, MT, Melinda Martin of Lynchburg, Christopher and Jennifer Lane of Oklahoma City, OK, Eddie and April Morgan of Highlands, Robert and Katy Morgan of Cleburne, Amy and Aaron Lloyd of Houston, and Nicholas Morgan, Andrew Morgan, and Paige Morgan, all of Cleburne. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Sidney and Barbara McAdams, Jr. of Groveton.

Ms. Morgan had a wonderful group of friends who she enjoyed, especially Ms. Yvonne Owens, who was so kind to her and the family during Ms. Morgan’s later years.

Ms. Morgan was a member of the First Baptist Church in Highlands and had friendships with many of its members. She worked at Kmart in Baytown for 15 years as Manager in the Toy Department. She was an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star in Texas, Crosby Chapter No. 261, where she currently held the station of Ruth. In 1998, she was appointed to be the Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of Utah in Texas.

Her family will receive friends Sunday, December 3, 2006, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Navarre Funeral Home Monday, December 4, 2006 at 10:00 am with Rev. Tim Edwards and Rev. Lester McAdams officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
