Gloria Ann Stassi Wismer passed away suddenly on December 25, 2015. Gloria lived a long and active life until her death on Christmas morning after spending Christmas Eve with her closest family and friends.
Gloria was born on July 12, 1925 in New Orleans, Louisiana and at an early age moved to Pelly, Texas. She attended Robert E. Lee High School, graduated from Our Lady of the Lake High School in San Antonio, and attended Louisiana State University. In 1946 she married M.L. Wimpy Wismer, and they both began a lifelong career in the wholesale beer business forming Wismer Distributing Company in 1959.
Gloria and Wimpy blazed a trail in the beer business as an exclusive Anheuser Busch distributor. Through years of hard work and uncertainty their perseverance produced the Wismer Distributing of today. Over the years Gloria enjoyed attending social functions with the employees of Wismer Distributing Company including the Christmas party held the week before her passing. Gloria was proud of achieving their long-ago dream to start the business and was in awe of the growth and continued success it enjoys today.
In 1980 Wimpy and Gloria retired and moved to their Ranch in D'Hanis, Texas where they enjoyed horses, cattle, and a garden each year that was second to none. She made so many wonderful friends while living at their ranch. Seven years after Wimpy's death in August 1991 Gloria moved to League City to be close to her daughter and son-in-law. Gloria enjoyed spending time with her relatives, friends and neighbors. She volunteered at the Evelyn Meador Library in Seabrook for many years. Gloria was an excellent cook, but what she loved more than anything was making delicious treats for others.
Mrs. Wismer was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Merle Lee"" Wimpy"" Wismer, her parents Sam and Hilda Von de Brooke Stassi, her brother Johnny Stassi, her sister Helen Stassi Dienst and husband Ben Dienst, her sister Shirley Stassi White and husband Charles White. Her-in-laws Wardie and Ruth Wismer and sister-in-law Dot Wismer Vidrine.
