

Gloria Aleph Baldwin McGraw (92) went to watch birds in God’s garden on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Gloria was born March 25, 1926 in Jasper, TX to parents Aleph Ellington of Shelbyville, TX and Ray Barret Baldwin of Huntsville, TX. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Barret Baldwin, Jr. (Katherine) and William David “Dub” Baldwin (Corinne) both of Jasper.
Gloria was married to Robert Gray McGraw of Richmond, Arkansas who she met while attending Texas Women’s University. Gloria and Bob celebrated 50 years of marriage before he passed in 1999. They had three daughters, Susan Carol McGraw Frazee (Bill) of Memphis, Gloria Elizabeth “Libby” McGraw Brown (Jimmy) of McAllen and Sarah Ann McGraw McGuire (Charlie) of Liberty.
Gloria was Mimi to eight grandchildren; Carol Frazee Johnson (Scott), Robert Frazee (Courtney), Corinne Brown Whittemore of McAllen, Carey Brown Goldsmith (Clifton), Ginger Brown Abbott (Casey) of San Antonio, Tom Brown (Jessica) of Kyle, Lloyd McGuire(Jennie) of Dallas and Megan McGuire Stein (David) of Houston.
Mimi was blessed to have and hold 17 great grandchildren. They were Susanna Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Thomas Johnson, William Frazee, Jennings Frazee, Laurel Frazee, Elizabeth Whittemore, Major Goldsmith, Royal Goldsmith, Harlow Abbott, Olive Abbott, Rohlston Abbott, Rowan Brown, Harris McGuire, Win McGuire, Grady McGuire, and Sofia Stein.
Gloria taught school in Channelview and La Porte and retired to travel as often as she could with Bob. They particularly enjoyed all the trips with lifelong friends from Grace United Methodist Church.
Our family would like to thank Sandy Pierson for her many years of caring and friendship for the last 10 years in McAllen. She and Gloria became bosom friends. The last year of her life she was cared for at Waterford Gardens in Mission. She loved Waterford and all the loving care she received there.
Her family will receive friends Friday, April 6, 2018, beginning at 12:30 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Alexander Chapel at Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church, 2714 Ferry Rd., Baytown, TX 77520, with Rev. José Peña officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd., Baytown, TX 77521.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church to help with the damage to the church from hurricane Harvey.
