Hardest working, rough around the edges, tough, generous, simple man are just a few words that most would use to describe Harry. Brought up in a family that instilled the value of hard work he did just that from a very young age. After marrying shortly after graduating from Friendswood High School and completing his time in the Army, he and Karen eventually settled in Mont Belvieu where they raised their family. Harry retired from ExxonMobil after 38 years of service where he made some lifelong friends and became a mentor to anyone wanting to learn. If you knew him, you knew he had a brilliant mind. He was a problem solver and could fix or fabricate a solution for just about anything you threw his way. It didn’t matter if you were a stranger on the side of the road or a friend, if help was needed, he was there. Once life slowed down, he always made time for family, especially his kids and grandkids that he cherished.
There is no doubt that Heaven gained an angel that can fix anything-with calloused hands, a sharp mind, and a determination that never quit. He may not have always been patient, but his love ran deep, and his strength and perseverance were unmatched. We will miss his no nonsense wisdom and steady presence every day.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Bernice Bennett, his sister Mona Hatley, and his son Jason Bennett.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years Karen Bennett, daughter and son-in-law Kelly & Stephen Prasek, brother and sister-in-law Tyler and Vicky Bennett, and his grandchildren that he lived every day for: Tanner and Charlie Raven, Carter Bennett, Dax Prasek, nieces, nephew and the rest of his extended family.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 am, Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas 77521 with the funeral service to begin at 11 am. Committal will follow at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521.
