

Hazel Marie Carr Bays died August 11, 2005 in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Bays was born April 28, 1919 in Okmulgee, OK to John and Birdie Baker Carr. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of thirty-seven years J.D. Bays, sisters Kathryn Carr, Annalee Harris and Dr. Josephine Carr. She is survived by her daughter LaNell King and husband Reggie, son Mike Bays and wife Pat, grandson Dax Bays and wife Dana, granddaughter
Danielle Kriesch and husband Ryan, great-grandchildren Nyah and Griffin Bays, sister-in-law Pearl Bays, numerous nieces and nephews, special caregiver Lonnese Phillips and daughter-in-law Kathy Bays.
Mrs. Bays was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church for over 55 years. She was the first president of the Baytown Little League Women’s Auxiliary, a volunteer for the Red Cross for many years, co-owner of Tiny Tot Kindergarten, a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Past President of the Solomon Barrow Chapter of Baytown. Mrs. Bays was an avid fan of the Houston Astros and enjoyed a good game of cards, especially poker. She is now sitting at the card table with her long time friends.
The family will receive visitors at the Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook, Baytown, Texas on Friday, August 12, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Dave Avis. Interment will be at San Jacinto Memorial Cemetery, I10 and Beltway 8, Houston, Texas.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 501 South Alexander, Baytown, TX 77520 or Grace Hospice of Texas, 2807 Kings Crossing Drive, Suite 342, Kingwood, TX 77345 in Mrs. Bays’ memory.
