Heidi loved kids. With an undergrad in Education from Michigan State University she taught several grades. She especially loved teaching kids reading. She earned an MS Education Psychology at age 40 while working. She continued her education at Neuhaus Education Center to focus on children with learning disabilities. Heidi retired as Assistant Administrator Special Education at Barbers Hill ISD.
Heidi committed completely to Jesus as her Lord and savior. Heidi loved and supported her husband, family and friends as the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman. Heidi acted on her all-consuming desire to grow in knowing-relationship with Jesus. Heidi desired that all know her Lord Jesus as testified in her words, letters and cards. She sought daily strengthening of Jesus’ love and teaching in bible study privately, with Derrell, in Old River Baptist Church services and Sunday School and in Women’s Studies. She taught Vacation Bible School and AWANA classes and ministered in Biblical Counseling. Children just had to hug “Mrs. Heidi” when they saw her. Heidi consistently sent cards, gifts, delivered food and flowers, and made many calls encouraging friends and family. Her unpretentious generosity flowed to church, charity and people in need. Her encouraging words “keep looking up” are being repeated in her memory. Wisdom, faith and love flowed from Heidi’s words and actions as she lived in respect and awe of our Lord.
Celebration of Life service will be held at Mercy Gate Church on Saturday, November 20, at 11:30 am.
