

She was born November 23, 1919 in Beaumont to her late Parents: George C. Ellender and Susie Myer Devereaux Ellender. Marie resided in Baytown since 1921, was a 75 year member of the Cedar Bayou United Methodist Church and was also a member of American Society of Medical Technologists, Cedar Bayou Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #11, Magna Charter Dames, National Hugunet Society, National Society of Colonial Dames, Daughters of the Confederacy, American Colonists and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Marie was a retired Medical Technologist from (MBA) Exxon Chemical.
She was preceded in death by: Husband: John P. Garrett and Parents: George Ellender and Susie Myer Devereaux Ellender; Step-Mother: Effie Ellender and Brothers: Maurice Ellender and George Ellender.
Survivors include: Sons: George Garrett and his wife Jacque and John E. Garrett all of Houston; Daughters: Juanita Reeves and her husband Ron and Johnelle Tautfest and her husband David all of Kingwood; Grandchildren: Teri and James McDonald, Ron and Janice Reeves, John and Khadija Garrett, George and Linda Garrett, Engle and Shane Folks, Susie Estes, M.D. and fiancé John Silvey and Robert “Bo” Estes and fiancé Tammy Badley; 7 Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Rose Mae Bowman and her husband Joe and Laura Fay Templin and her husband Robert all of Baytown; Brother-in-law: David Garrett and his wife Marlene of Flower Mound and several Nieces and Nephews. She also leaves behind her Loving Companion “Rocket”.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 4, 2007 at the Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Baytown. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at the Cedar Bayou United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Lyles officiating. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Baytown under the direction of Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Baytown.
Pallbearers will be: Ron Reeves, George Garrett, Robert Estes, Shane Folks, Garrett Clarke and Richard Sirmon. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: W. P. Lamb, John Ellender, Gordon Ashwood, Van Bush and John Silvey.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and companions of Remington Park Assisted Living, where she was a resident for the last 9 years, for their special kindness, care and love given to Marie and her family, especially the “twins”, and all her girls at Remington Park who took very special care of her and her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
