Jack Gregory Trigg, a loving father, wonderful grandfather, dedicated husband and friend passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born in Langdale, Alabama on March 28, 1948. He and his family moved to Texas in 1952 when his father found work at Exxon Chemical and his mother became a nurse and worked at a local hospital.
Jack is preceded in death by his son, Michael Trigg, his mother, Florence Pauline Kelley Trigg, his father, Melvin Fleming Trigg, his uncle, Leroy Kelley, his sister, Dorothy Burwick, and his nephew, Jeff Burwick.
Jack was a 1967 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas where he was a star football player. He worked odd jobs at gas stations and grocery stores throughout high school. During the fall of 1967, he enlisted into the United States Army. He was sent to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was not a fan of this place, so he and his friend volunteered to go to Vietnam. After serving 15 months as a Senior Combat Engineer at Chu Lai Air Base, Vietnam, he was honorably discharged and settled back in Baytown, where he obtained his Process Technician Certification at Lee College and married his high school sweetheart, Karen Powell (Proietti).
They were married for 27 years and had four children together. His first son, Michael, passed away in 1976 shortly after birth. Less than a year later, their daughter, Kelley Susan Trigg, was born. Jason Trigg and Joseph Trigg were born in 1979 and 1982. The family resided in Baytown and later moved to Mont Belvieu. Jack worked at ExxonMobil for 28 years in various roles throughout the plant.
He was a member of the Fire Team and participated in rescue competitions over the years. Jack retired from ExxonMobil in 2006.
In 1998, Jack met the love of his life, Rebecca “Becky” Robertson Kennedy, and on January 14, 1999, they married, the families joined as one and were now complete. He welcomed her children into his family as his own.
He will be greatly missed by six children, five in-laws, and fourteen grandchildren to forever cherish his legacy.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Becky Trigg, of 26 years, his daughter, Kelley Jenkins and husband, David, his son Jason Trigg and wife Jordan, his son Joseph Trigg, his daughter Ginger Fray and husband Charlie, his daughter Wendy Tubb and husband Kevin, and his son David Kennedy.
His grandchildren held a special place in his heart – they will remember with fond memories their beloved Paw Paw. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Trigg and wife Carolyn; by his aunt, Clovis Kelley, along with many nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved fur baby, Dexter.
His deep love for his community was reflected in many ways. He was a member of the Sampson Masonic Lodge #231 in Highlands and an active member at Second Baytown. Beyond his professional and civic contributions, he had a sharp wit, a love of learning and a creative mind. He loved working in his yard and playing catch with his doggie, Dexter.
After retirement, he met with his former work mates for breakfast reminiscing about the days at Exxon. He was a loving and loyal man – quiet in nature – spoke with a soft voice filled with wisdom and love and a fun sense of humor.
Visitation will be held at Navarre Funeral Home on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 5 to 7pm.
His Celebration of Life will be at Second Baytown Church on North Main on Tuesday, May 13th, at 10 a.m. followed by a graveside service with Military Honors at Memory Gardens.
