

Jim Harlow was born on January 23, 1940 to James and Lucile Kimmerling Harlow in Memphis, TN.
He graduated from Edinburgh Community High School in Edinburgh, IN in 1958. After High School he attended Purdue University, where he received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering in 1962. After college he attended the Naval Air Training Command and served as an officer and an airman with the U.S. Navy.
Upon finishing his training, he married his wife, Syble Myers in 1964 and moved to Coronado, California. After his service in Vietnam with the Navy, he joined Exxon as an Engineer and moved to Baytown, Texas in 1967. While in Baytown he became the father of James C. Harlow. His next move was to Aruba, where Mark L. Harlow was born.
Jim continued to fly, and he enjoyed piloting his family to Curacoa, Bonaire, Caracas, and Maracaibo in the Aruba Flying Club’s aircraft. In 1974 he returned to Baytown, and continued to work as a Professional Engineer until retirement. Jim was a member of the RAFS (Real Aviators Flew Stoofs), the Lower Trinity Basin Chapter of the Master Naturalists, and the ExxonMobil Retiree Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2016.
Jim leaves behind his sons, James and Mark; daughter-in-law, Kim Mlcak Harlow, son-in-law Dallas Cooper; granddaughters, Hannah, Hope, and Haven Harlow; grandsons, Jonathan and Harrison Harlow.
The funeral services will be at 10 am at Cedar Crest Cemetery, 3010 Ferry Rd, Baytown, TX 77520
