Mr. Roe was born in Clinch County, Georgia on April 21, 1931, to Johnnie Edward Roe and Rosa Andrews Roe of Homerville, Georgia. He served in Korea with the United States Army from 1947-1952, and was prisoner of war for 16 months. He went on to different ventures in the states of Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana before moving to Texas in 1981.
Mr. Roe was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Andrews Roe; father, Johnnie Edward Roe; five sisters , Emma Lee Dyal of Florida, Ava Nell Touchton, Minnie Lee Futch, Sara Frances Gilbert, and Johnnie Faye Roe Vest, all of Georgia; and one brother, Charles Roe of Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Francis Bass Roe of Houston, Texas; daughter, Jennifer; and grandson, James Edward, both of Houston, Texas; sons, James, Sam, and Johnny; daughters, Margaret, Cindy, Betty, Vicky, and Deena, all of Tampa, Florida; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
