Jan Hoover

Janis Ilene Hoover went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2025, in Denton, TX. She was born on September 7, 1936, in Fort Worth, TX. She graduated from R. L. Paschal High School in 1954. She would go on to study Business Math & Psychology at Lee College and retire first from US Steel and then Bayer Chemical. She was active in the Baytown community as well as Saint John’s United Methodist Church for over 30 years and was also a long-term board member of Exxon Credit Union.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross Griffin Sr. and Irene Griffin Knox, her husband of 48 years, Phillip Wayne Hoover, her two brothers James Griffin and Don Griffin, and her daughter-in-law Robyn Hoover. She is survived by her three sons, Neal Hoover of Baytown, Dennis Hoover of Baytown, and Martin & wife Amy Hoover of Denton, TX. Four granddaughters, Sondra & husband Tim Murray, Jennifer & husband Brad Compton, Brittany Hoover, and Nicole Hoover, as well as 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown on Saturday, October 25th from 5-7pm. Funeral will be held at Navarre Funeral Home on Monday, October 27th at 10:30am followed by Graveside service at Sterling White Cemetery in Highlands. Reception to follow at Little O’Neal’s Grill & Bar located at 1201 North Alexander in Baytown.
