Janie Babin DeShong

Janie Babin DeShong, 85, of Pearland, formerly Baytown, was born September 30, 1919 in Shreveport, LA and passed away Friday, April 15, 2005 in a Pearland nursing home. She was a very active member of Cedar Bayou United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the XYZ Senior Group.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Cedar Bayou United Methodist Church with Rev. Dann Miller and Rev. Tommy Lyles officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Babin, Steve Bezner, Jeff DeShong, David Fowler, Troy Leggett, and Harlin Schaeffer.

She was preceded in death by her parents Claire and Emma Babin and her husband Barden Amos DeShong and is survived by her son, Kenneth DeShong and Margaret Neff of Rogers, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and George Schaeffer of Pearland; sisters and brother-in-law, Ethel Marie and Bob Bezner of Carrolton and Alice Mae Fowler of Rosharon; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Pat Babin of Pasadena; grandchildren, Jeff DeShong and wife Karen of Springdale, Rebecca Giot and husband Yves of Houston, and Cynthia Schaeffer of Houston; and four great grandchildren, Alyssa and Christy DeShong, and Manon and Nicolas Giot.
