

John T. ""J.T."" Lovett, 86, a Baytown resident for 63 years, was born January 1, 1926 in Point Blank, TX and passed away Friday, February 17, 2012. He hired on with Exxon at age 17 and retired in 1982 as an electrician. At age 18, he enlisted and completed service in the Army and followed with service in the Air Force, where he was trained as a paratrooper. J.T. had a passion for gardening, tractors, welding, and golf cart refurbishing and he had a strong love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mary Etta Lovett; sisters, Audy Taylor, Lois McMicken, Dorothy McMicken, and Mary McFarland; and nephews, Robert Robertson, Gary Robertson, and John Pope. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda Lucille Lovett; nieces and nephews, Linda and Bill Botkin, Karen Hooper, Perry and Gloria Hooper, Yvonne Bell, Bobby and Harry Palas, Jackie Malloy, Doris Laidler, Doug and Kathy Pope, Darlene and Bob Prall, Pat and Paul Irwin, Linda Robertson, and Donny Robertson along with a niece, adopted to the family, Susie Turner.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Monday, February 20, 2012 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Yowell of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Workman, Donny Badgett, Richard Kimball, Jerry Anthony, Balbino Faz, and Travis Cothron. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Mannis, Dewey Fuller, Paul Scivally, and Mason Lucas.
J.T.'s family would like to thank the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital doctors and nurses for their special care during his extended stay and their heartfelt thanks go to SICU nurses Rene and Courtney.
