Joshua Ashton McKinney

Joshua Ashton McKinney, 19, of Highlands was born May 5, 1998, in Houston and passed away December 31, 2017. He attended Goose Creek Memorial High School and was a 2016 graduate of the Texas ChalleNGe Academy. He was attending Lee College and had his sights set on his ultimate goal…to become a U. S. Marine.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Natividad and Maria Castilleja. He is survived by his parents, Minerva Barboza and Aaron McKinney; sisters, Melissa Barboza and Caylen McKinney; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Cristy Barboza; grandparents, Joye and Chuck McCallum; nieces, Amiya and Allison; cousins, Haley and Chase; and many more loved ones who adored Joshua.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday, January 10, 2018, beginning at 12 Noon with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lance Richards officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.

Serving as pallbearers will be J. D. Brown, Steven Castilleja, Colby Neal, Halil Odun, C. J. Wingate, and Matthew Wingate.
