Julius Leroy Bohannon of Baytown, TX, passed away on July 15, 2023. Julius was born on December 20, 1955 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to Paul David Bohannon and Iva Madell (Doughtie) Bohannon. The family relocated to Texas when Julius was a few years old, eventually settling in Baytown. The family were founding members of Northside Baptist Church, where at a young age, Julius accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Julius attended elementary through high school in Baytown, graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1974. Upon graduation, Julius enlisted in the Army, where he was honorably discharged.
Julius began his career in the industrial field, where his first job was fabricating instrument control panels. He later moved into a technical sales role at Ventech Controls. Julius loved technical industry sales, where he made lifelong friends and retired at age 65. Even though he retired, he still maintained his close relationships to his friends and business contacts.
Julius had two children in his early 20’s, daughter Kelly and son Jason, both of whom he was very proud. When Kelly and Jason had children of their own, he became a doting and extremely involved grandparent. Julius loved sports, especially softball which he played until his 50’s and was so excited when two of his granddaughters began playing softball as well. He loved going to their games and would brag about all of their accomplishments to the rest of his family. Julius loved all of the sports and extracurricular activities that all of his grandchildren were involved in and loved to tell everyone about it and made sure to go to as many activities as he was able to. He loved his Houston Astros, especially watching the games with grandson Jon Rylan and texting about every play with his brother Robert and his cousin Rick. Not only was he an avid baseball fan, he loved to sing. He entertained his family and friends often with his love for karaoke.
Julius is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters-in-law, Peggy and Gayla Bohannon. He is survived by his daughter Kelly (Trace) Engel and son Jason (Jennifer) Bohannon. Grandchildren: River and Cameron Engel, Kaylah (Leviathon) Arnold, Alexis Rogers and Jon Rylan, Makenzie and Addison Bohannon. Sisters: Iva Paulette O’Sullivan and Barbara (John) Isom. Brothers: Calvin (Sharon) Bohannon and Robert Bohannon, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many special friends.
Julius’ family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Lori Bohannon, who was there for Julius and helped him in his time of need.
