

She was born January 29, 1932 in Joaquin, Texas to her late Parents: R. T. Kerr and Mary Childress Kerr. Lajuana had lived most of her life in Baytown, although she did briefly reside in Nacogdoches, Lufkin and Houston.
Lajuana graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1948 at sixteen years of age, and went on to receive a Degree in Education from Sam Houston State University. She also studied in Puebla, Mexico.
Lajuana was a retired art teacher from Ross S. Sterling High School, where she served as Department Head for the Art Department. She also worked on occasion as an artist for the Baytown Sun.
Her professional memberships included the A&M Mom’s club and B.A.R.S.E.A. in Baytown. Lajuana also regularly worked as an election clerk at the voting polls.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, October 10, 2007, prior to the service at the Navarre Funeral Home of Baytown.
Services will be held at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at the Navarre Funeral Home of Baytown with Rev. Bob Dees officiating. There will be a private family interment at a later date.
Lajuana is survived by: Sons: Don Turner and his wife Carol of Wilmington, North Carolina and Kevin Turner and his wife Dusty of Baytown; Brother: Billy Kerr and his wife Helen of Baytown; Grandchildren: Sarah Turner, Bruce Turner and Reece Turner; Niece: Sharon McMath and her husband Dale; Nephew: Randall Kerr and his wife Patricia and numerous other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the following organizations: Wooster Baptist Church, Bay Area Rehabilitation Center, Meals on Wheels, First Christian Church, or Chinquapin School of Highlands.
