

Larry Wayne Rogers, 58, of Highlands, died accidentally at his home on Sunday, July 15, 2007. Born on May 25, 1949, in Baytown, he spent most of his life in the area, and was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, as well as nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend. His life was truly about people, and his outgoing nature and exuberant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Larry graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and attended Lee College. One of his very first jobs was with Rogers Furniture Company, a family-owned business. He later found career opportunities in the construction trade, and he was currently employed as Tech Manager for Direct T.V.
Survivors include his loving wife Gay Nell, and son Ryan, of the U.S. Navy, stationed in Jacksonville, Florida; stepson, Wesley Goode and wife Marcy of Victoria, Texas, and grandchildren Kiley and Brayden; mother, Floydella Rogers and brother, Randy Rogers of Baytown; sister-in-law, Linda White and husband John of Wharton; brother-in-law, Thomas Carroll and wife Judy of Union Springs, Alabama. He is also survived by aunts, Verla Arthur of Houston, Louise Saxon of Austin; and uncle, the Reverend Stafford Rogers of Trade, Tennessee, as well as a number of cousins, nephews and nieces.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, W.C. “Dub” Rogers, and uncles, James M. Arthur, and Floyd C. Saxon.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church in Baytown with the Reverend Karl Tewold officiating. Burial of his cremains will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
