Laura Brockelman Whitfield, born September 27, 1960, was 55 years young when she passed away on December 7, 2015. She was a very strong, courageous, outgoing person that loved life and lived it to the fullest every day. Wife to her high school sweetheart, Lonnie, for 38 years, mother to Amanda and Lonnie, Jr., and mom to many more. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, friend, and most important, NANA to Addison, Logan and Olivia whom she loved dearly. And as Addison would say, nana is now a fairy in the sky watching over us.
She loved to be outside fishing, camping at the river house with family and friends. She loved her animals which consisted of six goats, one miniature horse, two dogs, one rabbit and a lot of strays that showed up. Laura loved to cook and always had plenty for when someone dropped by for a visit, and she and Lonnie were fortunate to be able to take several vacations together as well as family vacations in the summer with grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Larry Brockelman; sister, Becky Brockelman Cole; and grandparents, Ivy and Gladys Gould.
Left to cherish and honor her is her husband, Lonnie Whitfield; son, Lonnie Whitfield, Jr. and wife Brandi; daughter, Amanda Whitfield; grandchildren, Addison Ellis, Logan Whitfield, Olivia Whitfield; mother, Hattie Brockelman; sister, Debbie Badgett and husband Herschel; mother and father-in-law, Jean and Frank Whitfield; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends. She will be missed by all of us but we know she is in heaven with her dad, sister, and grandparents rejoicing and resting peacefully.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 12, 2015 beginning at 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Earthman Funeral Home.
