Lera Schrock Jones, age 81, of Friendswood, Texas, went home to receive her eternal reward in Heaven on December 26, 2025. She was born on June 21, 1944, in Conroe, Texas, and lived a life defined by faith, service, and deep love for her family and church community. In her early adult years, Lera married C. R. Niemeier, and from that union she was blessed with her two beloved children, whom she treasured deeply.
Lera was preceded in death by her cherished parents, C.W. Jr. and Doris Cryer Schrock; her husband, Mervyn D. Jones; and her step-grandson, Samuel Morgan.
She is lovingly survived by her brother, Robert Walter “Bobby” Schrock and his wife Betty of Rosenberg, Texas; her daughter, Robin Lynne Rhea and husband Jeff of Baytown, Texas; and her son, Pastor Scott Niemeier and wife Kelly of Friendswood, Texas. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Kimberly Morgan and husband John of New Mexico, and her stepson, Timothy Jones of New Mexico.
Lera was a devoted grandmother to Zoey and Parker Richardson, Parker Rhea, Bryce Rhea, Micah and Abby Niemeier, Destiny Niemeier, Colin Niemeier, and Kanon Niemeier. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Rachel and Junior Luna, and Bekah and Bryce McMakin. Lera cherished her many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Lera grew up in Baytown, Texas, where she attended Lee High School. She dedicated 28 years of her professional life as a Lab Technician with ExxonMobil, where she was known for her diligence, reliability, and strong work ethic.
Above all, Lera loved the Lord. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was widely known as a prayer warrior who faithfully interceded for her family, friends, church, and anyone in need. She was a devoted member of HighPoint Church in Friendswood and Maranatha Church (Hillside) in Mont Belvieu, where she joyfully served in many capacities, including the singles ministry, children’s church, women’s ministry, and clown ministry. She also cooked for church camps and had a special passion for encouraging young men and women in their walk with Christ, including those attending Christ for the Nations Bible College.
Lera leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, joyful service, and unconditional love. Her life reflected Christ in both word and deed. As Scripture promises, “In My Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2–3). It was Lera’s heartfelt desire that anyone who did not yet know her Lord would come to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior, so they too might one day join her in eternal glory. She will be deeply missed until the day her loved ones are reunited with her in Heaven.
Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 3:00 p.m. on January 3, 2026. Services are under the direction of Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas.
