Lilla was born on June 30, 1948 in Baytown. She spent much of her childhood on “The Hill” spending time with her two brothers. After graduating Valedictorian out of her class in 1966 at Barbers Hill High School, she went on to further her career at LSU and received her accounting degree in 1970. Then, she began working at an oil and gas company in Houston. Later, she decided to enter law school at South Texas College of Law. She would work full time and go to law school at night. She was Licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas to practice law May 9, 1975. She was a General Practitioner since 1980, and proudly served in Chambers, Liberty, and Harris Counties. She received her J.D. from South Texas College of Law and was one of the few female lawyers in Baytown practicing law in the late 1970s.
Lilla was a dedicated and active member of St. Joseph Church in Dayton. Lilla loved to spend time shopping for antiques, shoes, purses, and jewelry. If it was Monday-Friday she could be found at her office or in a courtroom. She was a hard worker and very dedicated to her clients of all ages and loved working alongside her lifelong secretary Darlene Mitchell of 28+ years. She was a very honest person (would never sugar-coat anything), humorous, and those who really knew Lilla knew how strong willed she was. Lilla always had a positive outlook on life. She will forever be missed and always loved by many.
