

Margaret Ann Gibbons McCaleb was born on April 2nd, 1936, in the “Little House” on her maternal grandparents (Billy and Myrtle Robinson) farm near Argyle, Texas to her parents Warren S. and Bernice Gibbons. At the age of 6 years old she moved with her family to Birdville/Halton City, Texas near Ft. Worth, Texas. She often spent summers, holidays, and vacations going to Argyle to visit with uncles, aunts, and cousins. Also, visiting her paternal grandparents, John and Ethel Gibbons, at their farm.
She was raised in the Birdville Baptist Church where her father was a Deacon.
She attended Birdville School for 12 years, graduating in 1954 with honors. Upon graduation, she received a full scholarship to John Peter Smith School of Nursing/Texas Weslyn College in Fort Worth.
In early 1955 she met a handsome “Fly Boy” (Air Force) James Cameron McCaleb of Baytown, Texas. They married on May 28th, 1955. From that union was born Cindy, Craig, and Chris.
James and Margaret Ann were members of Missouri Street Church of Christ for over 50 years. She helped for many years in the church’s food pantry. When her children were young, she joined and held offices in Ashbel Smith PTA and Cedar Bayou PTA. She was a member and past Matron of Honor of Goose Creek Order of the Easter Star #798. Also, a member and past president of the Social Order of the Beauceants #153. Now a member of the Port Arthur Social Order of Beauceants , Member and Past President of the Social Order of the Amarth Court #1 in Baytown, also a Charter Member. She was Mother Advisor for 7 years for Goose Creek #80 Order of the Rainbows.
Margaret Ann worked for Harris County Hospital District for 23 years as a medical secretary (now called Harris Health System) at the Baytown Clinic.
Margaret Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Cameron McCaleb, and their much loved and only son, Craig Cameron McCaleb; along with both parents and her grandparents.
She is survived by her two wonderful daughters, Cynthia Lynn Blackwell (Kenneth) of Union, South Carolina, Chris Tammra Hadley (Johnny) of London, England; Craig’s wife, Judy Scott McCaleb of Union, South Carolina; brothers, William (Billy) Gibbons (Kay) of Ennis, Texas, and Lee Gibbons (Elsie) of Austin, Texas; her sister Carolyn Allen of Murphy, Texas - who will forever be her Cardy and Margaret Ann will always be her sissy; her double first cousins, Wayne Robertson (Lena Faye) and Maxine Evans of Argile, Texas; her Goddaughter, Melinda Hay of Fort Worth, Texas, and Godson Steve Fischesser of Baytown, Texas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Ronnie Petty of Boine, Texas; her former sister-in-law and first friend in Baytown, Texas, Charslene McCaleb Lanoue of Deer Park, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren who brought joy and love to her life, Nathaniel Conder of Houston, Texas, Brian Conder of Baytown Texas, Carolyn Blackwell Edwards of Union, South Carolina, Brigitte McCaleb (Amber) of Baytown, Texas, Erin McCaleb of Union, South Carolina, Skyler Hall of Union, South Carolina, Amanda Margaret Van Winkle of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Shelby Grave Malloy (Conner) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jordan Hadley Minneapolis, Minnesota; great grandchildren, God’s extra gifts!, Hadley, Lily Ann, Ayvah, Henry James, Xavier, Julia Margaret, Joslynn, Sabrina, and Madden James. Also, one nephew and nine nieces; and Allison and Carmen -her bonus grandkids.
