Marty was known for her creativity, Mom-to-all, and her laughter.
Throughout her life, Marty was passionate about people and activities. She found happiness in spending time with family and friends, celebrating holidays and traditions, and creating special memories with those she loved. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty in everyday life and took joy in simple pleasures that brought people together. She also loved the REL Brigadiers so much and contributed so much time that she was made an honorary Brigadier. An honor she cherished.
Marty especially loved creating jewelry and collecting gemstones and could often be found watching Jewelry TV, always searching for a beautiful new piece, or learning about a rare stone. She enjoyed gardening and was an active participant in her local garden club, finding joy in flowers and plants, and sharing gardening tips and plants with friends. Playing bridge was a weekly highlight of hers, getting to chat with her beloved friends.
She was also deeply involved in creating art and volunteering at the Baytown Junior Forum and then, more recently, the Art League, where she shared her creativity and enthusiasm with others. One of Marty’s most personal gifts was her genuine interest in people. She loved striking up conversations with strangers, even while waiting in line at the pharmacy, learning their entire life stories, and then happily sharing those stories with friends and family. Marty never met a stranger, and her kindness and curiosity was clear in her story telling.
Marty’s passions reflected the way she lived her life — with curiosity, passion, and heart. Whether she was sharing stories, supporting loved ones, enjoying time outdoors, creating, cooking, gardening, or dedicating herself to causes and communities she cared about, she approached everything with enthusiasm and gusto. She loved traveling and exploring the areas when they lived overseas, in Hong Kong and France.
Marty is survived by her loving husband, Larry; her four children, Doug (Maria), Dennis (Robert), Diana (Miklós), and Debbie (James); her eight grandchildren (Justin, Paige, Kendall, Rutger, Colin, Angelica, Pepper, and Brennon); and her four great-grandchildren (Hannah, Luke, River, and another expected at any moment). She is also survived by her brother, Bill (Mary), her sister, Judy, and multiple nieces and nephews, along with many dear friends and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched and, in the traditions, stories, and love she leaves behind.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
