

Michael (Mike) Madison was born in Pampa, Texas on January 10,, 1942 and departed this life on April 29, 2009 in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, Noel W. Madison, and his parents, L.H. and Gwen Madison. He is survived by his loving wife, Tobye (Sellers) Madison, his daughter, Tanya (Madison) Yates, husband Jeff Yates, and granddaughter, Morgan Yates and his son, Mike Madison, wife Emily and grandsons Brice and Max Madison.
At age four, Mike and his parents moved to Deer Park. There he graduated from high school. After attending Lee College, he received his B.S. degree in education from the University of Houston. His Master of Education degree was earned from Southwest Texas State University. Mike also took postgraduate coursework at the University of Texas at Austin, Prairie View, Lamar University, and the University of Houston at Clear Lake.
His career in education included 24 years in the Goose Creek CISD as a speech and hearing therapist, home bound teacher, Director of Special Education, Associate Superintendent for Accreditation and special programs, and Deputy Superintendent for Instruction and Guidance, three years as Director of Special Education in New Braunfels ISD, one year at ESCC XIII in Austin, and two years at ESC IIV in Houston. He also was an adjunct instructor for Lamar University where he taught postgraduate coursework in special education. Additionally, he served as a consultant for numerous school districts, universities and the Texas ´education Agency among others.
Mike wrote a book, The ABÇ's of Plan Å, related to mainstreaming exceptional children in the regular classroom. It was used by parents, teachers, school districts and as a university textbook. After retirement, he invented, patented and sold a tobacco related product.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church and held a deep religious faith, which led him to have no fear of death.
At Mike's request, he will be cremated. He is an organ donor. Rather than the usual remembrances, a donation for Cancer research at M. D. Anderson would be appreciated.
